Description

Potted with a sloping and plump rim, a high girdled neck tapering down to connect the fuller and bulging shoulder, a globular belly, a round bottom and three legs to support the burner which are bent at tips to enhance the stability, the tripod is covered in rosy purple glaze, leaving a brown tint and visible spinning trails at the bottom, and tips of three legs unglazed to expose the iron black biscuit, hence the poem written by Emperor Qianlong, “the bottom seems to be sealed by a copper coat; while the mouth and the foot appear to be made of black iron.” Purple splashes are dipped overall the body, presenting an ethereal azure blue with delicate shimmering, resembling frost of snow.
