Description
Jabba the Hutt is a fictional alien from the well-known Star Wars movie series—a large, slug-like creature with a wide mouth, no legs, and a body covered in mucus, constantly surrounded by the dregs of society. For Jabba, rules and order are meaningless. Ruthless and cunning, he embodies arrogance, envy, wrath, greed, gluttony, and all forms of vice. Inspired by Jabba’s character, Beeple created an artwork featuring countless Jabba-like figures of various sizes pouring endlessly from Jabba’s eyes, nose, and mouth—like an unceasing flood of greed and desire, fighting over everything in the world. In the fast-changing era of the Internet, these endless noises easily overwhelm and confuse people. Leveraging Internet users’ fascination with bizarre things, Beeple reimagines this familiar figure in a strange, even nauseating, recursive way, attempting to pierce through the digital world’s noise with a powerful visual impact that prompts reflection.
