Description

Beeple’s Everydays series is typically created in the moment, inspired by the day’s current events or personal experiences. He neither plans ahead nor accepts commission requests. However, Hadley—specially made as a birthday gift at the request of his brother’s niece—breaks from Beeple’s creative routine.

In the artwork, a little girl holding a teddy bear stands in a primitive tribe of giant monstrous beings. One of the monsters, with its grotesque face, massive arms, and muscular build, sharply contrasts with the small, frail girl. It extends a birthday cake toward her, as though offering a gift. The girl gazes up at the cake, seemingly unafraid.
Beeple creates a scene full of tension and contrast, reflecting the connections among the diverse themes explored in his Everydays series. Even when working on a commissioned piece as a birthday presents, Beeple stays true to his signature style—marked by surrealism and striking contrasts—to tell his Everydays story.
