Description
A leading figure in American Pop Art, Andy Warhol established his famous Silver Factory studio in 1964 and ushered in an important turning point in his career that gave birth to the iconic series Flowers. Warhol appropriated the photograph of a flower published in Modern Photography magazine and produced a large number of silk screen prints with repeating motifs in various color schemes. By submerging realistic pictures of flowers in repetitive image patterns and indistinct formats, he had distilled these flowers into pure and simple forms, which became the symbol of Warhol’s pivotal shift towards nature-based themes.
