Introduction
With a straight flat mouth and plump rim, a long neck running down to sloping shoulder and compressed bulging belly, the vase is supported on a flared foot ring with a pair of rectangular piercings on two sides; its unadorned appearance perfectly emphasizes the elegant silhouette: the sturdy neck visually compresses its flat belly to hold the weight in the centre and form a steady and well-balanced structure. It is covered overall in celadon glaze with soft and oily gloss like jade ware. The foot ring is thin yet solid as iron.
This vase is produced imitating bronze ware (round Hu) of Han Dynasty, with reduced contour. The two rectangular piercings in foot ring are after the exact structure of archaic bronze ware.
