Introduction
Tu Ke, a well-known Chinese modern and contemporary oil painter celebrated for his landscapes, produced very few still lifes—only about five are known to appear in published collections. Tu Ke was pursued the nationalization of oil painting in his art, skillfully blending oil painting with techniques from traditional Chinese painting and decorative art. In depicting chrysanthemums and calla lilies arranged in a vase, he achieved a high degree of harmony in formal rhythm and aesthetic sensibility, imbuing the work with a unique charm.
