The “WORLD OF FLOWERS” contemporary art collection is the result of a decade of focused research and collecting by the Deji Art Museum, centred on floral still lifes in Chinese and international modern and contemporary art. These works highlight the enduring significance of floral imagery in both Eastern and Western art history, as well as its role as a cultural bridge across global borders. This collection includes works by pioneering Chinese emigrant artists such as Sanyu, Pan Yuliang, Wu Dayu, Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-Ki, and Chu Teh-Chun; Western modern masters such as Manet, Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Matisse, Picasso, Mondrian, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Magritte; and iconic contemporary artists including Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, David Hockney, Chen Yifei, and Jeff Koons. Every petal, every stem, is a part of a century-long conversation between the East and the West, the past and the present, about the universal language of beauty.
